That is a wonderful concept art and it is very well executed.

I really do like concept arts in general because you can allow yourself to be a little more sketchy and to be honest, I think the sketchy feeling here is very interesting with the overall composition. Dark, mysterious... It's not like we could see everything the right way at night. If you look carefully at the castle, you can imagine it's alive, the 2 flags in the middle being its gloomy eyes and the dark door its mouth. A sad, lonely castle-monster awaiting for the next mortal crossing the bridge. Ok, enough with the creepy delusions!

The way you decided to add the lighting is very beautiful for the eye, in particular on the bridge. We can easily understand that the castle blocks the light of the moon, diving half of the bridge into the darkness. Maybe it's another way to warn anyone wanting to cross it: ''Be clever and turn back, it's the last warning.'' I think a little more lighting on the castle itself would have helped to give a little more depth to the edges (On the left of the castle), and to balance this lighting, a little more shadows on the right side of the structure. Same for the trees that are directly on the castle. Contrary to the trees in the front plan (and background), the trees placed on the castle are part of the main subject. They should be as detailed as the castle. Not drawing each little leaf, no. But adding the light/shadow process on them too to make sure they merge perfectly into the main subject, to prevent them to look like they were added at the end of the composition.

I really do like the monochrome feeling of this concept. Once again, at night, colors are less defined, and you kept that on your mind. The little red flags are a very clever touch to prevent our eye to get bored by those desaturated colors of the night. This little red touch gives a professional feeling to this drawing.

For the concept itself, the creation of the castle. I can tell it's a little flat, and not very original as it is looking like any other castle I've already seen here and there on the internet. The trees being a nice add-on surely, but the structure itself could have been improved. Improved to give it the feeling of something unique and personal. Creating original concepts is not something easy as we usually refer ourselves to real life pictures. But with concepts, that's exactly what is fun: leaving the box.

You are a very talented artist, and I really appreciate most of your background/landscape/city art. I can't wait to see another castle from you, hopefully something that will startle me by its originality as much as by its art technique.
